Does your gas meter need disconnection, removal or both?
Disconnect and/or Remove a Gas Meter
It’s not unusual to find you no longer require a gas meter. This may be because you have moved into new premises with surplus meters, or you have moved to a different type of heating, such as a heat pump. In these cases, it’s wise to get the meter removed and the supply capped. However, if there is a chance that you may need either a gas supply or meter in the future, it could be better to leave it in place. The cost of reinstalling the service and meter could be high. If you’re sure you won’t need it again, then by all means remove it. Even if you don’t use it, you will be charged for it.

Before starting the job of removing a gas meter we establish the current status of the supply via the Gas Transporters Network. This establishes the pressure and capacity, as well as a live/dead check.
